Project"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mulcahy, Kyle C."],"subject_tesim":["Church growth"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to create a revitalization strategy focused on \r\nGolfview Baptist Church (GBC) of Lake Wales, Florida. The decline in membership and attendance was the catalyst behind revitalization for this church. My initial research and discovery focused on the external demographics of the surrounding community. The next area of study was church revitalization, which resulted in an executive summary of best \r\npractices of church revitalization. A vision team was created to build a  strategy, strengthen the congregation, and grow the church into a healthy  body of believers. The vision team and I evaluated GBC's internal demographics, conducted an internal church survey, and created a report of critical needs. The team developed a revitalization strategy for the church using external and internal demographics, best practices, and a report of \r\ncritical needs. The revitalization strategy was presented to Golfview Baptist Church, Lake Wales, Florida, for approval and implementation. However, people are still hungry for God’s Word. This paper is a case study of the renewal and revitalization of Hope Lutheran Church, drawing on my own thirty years of experience in the ministry. All of my congregations experienced growth during my time serving as pastor, and this dissertation is a description of my strategies for renewal. In this, the most important aspect is the pastor’s own personal walk. In order to meet the demands of ministry, a pastor must have prayer time and a devotional life outside of pastoral study time.\r\n\r\nFrom there, there are four main areas to address for a church looking to revitalize. The first is to heal. A pastor looking to renew his congregation needs to ask his congregants what the church is doing right and where the church has room to grow. He needs to listen to the hurt people carry in their own spiritual lives, and from there he must provide sound guidance from God’s Word while directing people to the sacraments.\r\n\r\nSecondly, the pastor must establish a confessional program of Biblical education for youth and old alike. Next, the pastor must ask, “Who used to be coming? And who needs to be coming?” Reach out to the inactive members and unchurched members of the community. Finally, the growing church must serve together. Most communities have people lacking basic necessities such as food and housing. First, the project director investigated the Haitian demographics of Everett, Massachusetts, to determine the corresponding profile in two steps: compiling the data and evaluating the community. Then, the project director explored existing revitalization strategies to identify best practices by looking into similar revitalization strategies from literature and other church practices. Furthermore, the project director developed a revitalization strategy for SHBC by selecting and training a team and establishing a revitalization strategy.
