A ten-week support group encounter, focusing on fellowship, honesty and support, assisted the group members in understanding the reasons why churches do not grow numerically and provided support to cope with the non-growth situation.  The results of the project revealed slight differences in the feelings, expectations and outlook of the pastors in the support group as compared to the total number of pastors in the Association. Control and experimental groups were selected and pretested.  The experimental group completed a spiritual gifts questionnaire, were given ministry opportunities, and both groups were posttested after twelve weeks.  Assimilation did occur in the areas of belonging, social interaction and positive perceptions about the church. The aim of this project was threefold: to identify the problem of inactivity within the membership; to develop biblical/theological thought on inactivity; and to employ a pilot program to start the reassimilation process. The importance of a strategy for growth and the theological perspectives of church growth are examined.  This small church faced major obstacles to growth but at the end of the seven-year period the average number of participants in the worship service grew to 114.
