Seven areas common among church interventionists were identified: acceptance of differences, unresolved corporate sin, church structure, ministry focus, leadership, communication, and accountability.  The data were inconclusive in establishing a direct relationship between the seven identified areas and the onset of conflict. The author's purpose was to investigate why the church died by performing a complete autopsy on the church body. His examination included a review of pre-existing conditions, examples from Scripture, and research from contemporary authors. The key evidence in the case came from the results of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with church members. In the end the author determined that the cause of death was due to complications surrounding stagnant leadership. The research described the inherent hazards of working within this ministry. A quantitative survey was sent to every officer serving in the Southern Territory to understand their felt needs. The research showed that children, emotional problems, and administrative expectations were at the top felt needs. The results also demonstrated that officers were hesitant to reach out to the administration because of fear of negative consequences. The study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors who have served at least ten years in fulltime ministry. The unit of analysis was the critical incident method, and the resultant data was analyzed using the constant comparative method. The findings of this study confirmed that a gap exists between pastors' expectations, training, and practice of pastoral leadership. The result was a functioning team that focused on developing a risk management strategy to minimize risk for the First Baptist Church of Live Oak. This project addresses the hurt and pain of the minority group at Grace First Presbyterian Church as result of this change and the need to engage in the practice of healing and reconciliation. Utilizing ethnographic research as a pastoral practice, through practices of listening and discerning, the congregation will engage in co-authoring the future. Three research questions guide this study: (1) How do pastors utilize change initiatives to cultivate collaboration with their boards? (2) How do pastors utilize timing to cultivate collaboration with their boards? (3) How do pastors utilize timing to cultivate collaboration with their boards? The study utilizes a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with nine church leaders from three different churches of various size in the Midwest. The results of this study demonstrate that the primary initiators within churches are the senior pastors. Pastors in two districts of the United Methodist Church were surveyed with follow-up interviews regarding their perceptions and practices around duties listed under 'order' in The United Methodist Book of Discipline. Comparisons and contrasts in thinking are identified between ordained and non-ordained clergy.
