Pre-testing and post-testing, a spiritual awareness assessment, and weekly journal entries were utilized to evaluate spiritual maturity and awareness of God. Primary attention is given to Luke's portrait of the earliest Christian community in Acts, a book of particular significance to Christians from the Disciples and other restorationist traditions.  Foundational to this study is the principal theological truth that the Church is the Spirit-born, Spirit-dependent creation of God. Spiritual vitality, therefore, is not the consequence of human effort, but the result of the Spirit's initiative to which we can respond and with which we can cooperate.
