The project substantially increased the participant's awareness of God and their ability to listen to the voice and promptings of the Holy Spirit.  The participants engaged one another with the model and the movement of the Holy Spirit substantially increased their confidence in both their personal and corporate prayer. This project focuses on what churches can do to address more effectively these needs and thereby provide important support and encourage church involvement and satisfaction. The project examines the information gleaned from extensive interviews conducted with seventeen midlife individuals from the same congregation. The interview responses cover four areas: 1) midlife experience, 2) spiritual needs, 3) diversity, and 4) church involvement and satisfaction. From the responses, five specific spiritual needs are identified. The project provides an inside account of such a group's benefits for improving the spiritual well being of an at-risk population in the life of the church.  The pastoral methodology of this study involves taking participants seriously as 'living human documents,' introducing them to soulful poetry and creative theology as two methods for surpassing the epistemological barriers that prevent them from reappropriating and reimagining Christian tradition.  The goal of the pastoral initiative is to rectify spiritual deadness and irrelevance. If you are a youth pastor, this equipping certainly involves recruiting volunteer leaders.  The goal of this project was to train three youth pastors in recruiting volunteer youth leaders using a four-phase strategy involving prayer, effective leadership team, worship service vision casting, and personal contacting. The demographic change has institutions within society struggling to cope with possible solutions.  The local church in particular has experienced an aging congregation which of necessity demands restructuring in programs.  The author, himself a senior, has researched statistics, church policies, and interviewed church leaders that have prepared for the change. The project director researched worship planning and theology and wrote a seven week curriculum designed to teach about biblical worship and worship planning.  He taught it to nine people.  Effectiveness was measured using pre-tests, post-tests, class evaluations, worship service evaluations by an outside expert, focus groups, journal, and a follow-up interview. These spiritual practices were addressed through a strategically planned ten-session program consisting of meditations, lectures, and workshops. A pre and post assessment was developed to measure attitudinal changes in areas specified.
