This purpose was achieved by developing three key phases of: preparation, connecting and equipping. The primary methods of assessment were quantitative surveys. The data gathered was analyzed based on nine different facets of spiritual maturity. This study found there is a positive correlation between ministry involvement and spiritual maturity.  The facet of spiritual maturity that most positively associates with ministry participation is involvement in a small group community. This study tells the story of how the members were faithful in their responsibility to be an advocate for the rights of the marginalized. Results for the project included an empowered community where faith is enacted in intentional and missional forms by the congregation. The training of the 14 pastors took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2002. The group had one year to put the principles learnt into practice. The class met twice after the one-year period to reevaluate the ten principles they had previously learnt. The project proved that it was possible to plant churches using the ten leadership principles gathered from Paul's speech at Miletus. 5 new churches were planted and the other 9 that had existed before this project began grew by 33% to 185%. The desired outcome was to begin a process of changing our church's general friendliness to an intentional atmosphere of welcoming through a fifty-day emphasis on hospitality. This was accomplished by an informal introductory worship service, seven worship services, six Bible studies, and a seminar for each of our three church boards. Volunteers took part in an intensive eight-week Christian caregiving course.  The course was designed to equip members with the basic skills necessary to provide competent pastoral care.  Three evaluative tools were used as the primary data gathering instruments: a caregivers' survey, a caregivers' interest questionnaire, and the Christian caregivers' course evaluation.  Results indicated that participants had the passion, gifts, and skills necessary for a care-oriented ministry. In Caucasian churches, ministers seem to be in paid staff positions while in African-American churches, many ministers (excluding pastors) are in positions with little or no compensation and appear to do many voluntary functions. Women in both types of churches are underutilized and seem to be in supportive roles. This evaluative study in the descriptive mode used a researcher-designed instrument for training fifteen participants. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, weekly feedback forms, and a congregational survey.
