In developing mutual ministries of pastoral care an overview of methodology and the actual training experience for one local congregation are described.  Included in these ten sessions are theoretical definitions of pastoral care, biblical and theological underpinnings for caring ministries, and pragmatic training skills for listening and responding pastorally. To test the thesis a class of six sessions was taught which focused on the universal priesthood as well as vocation, affirmation of gifts, spiritual disciplines and the mutual consolation and conversation of the saints.  In conclusion, the changed historical context of today, as well as apathy, ignorance, and limited endorsement by clergy limit the thesis. This study shows that leadership training can be very effective, especially in a campus ministry setting, by nurturing and training the many intellectual young adults available.  It endeavors to utilize leadership training for class meeting leaders as a vehicle for developing lay leadership. The study examined combat experiences, vocational choices, depth relationships, and current ministry settings.  Results showed strong relationship between encounters with death or shattering of values and decisions to enter ministry. Results showed strong relational stability and hearing of posttraumatic stress disorder. Results indicate failure of seminaries to assist incoming students in task of integrating combat experience and religious vocation. The purpose was accomplished by communicating the results of the study of the biblical basis for deacon ministry and the best methods for equipping counselors.  Positive attitudinal changes were affected in deacons and church members toward supportive counseling. A program containing essential elements for a single adult ministry was utilized to train a single adult council to understand the need for a single adult ministry and encourage adoption of a single adult ministry plan. Through observation and reflection, participating pastors clarified and defined their perceptions of their churches.  They interpreted their observations through stories, characterizations, reflection upon interviews and the development of metaphors. The project tested a model of pastoral leadership focused upon the roles of 'reflective guide' and 'mission initiator.' Analysis of the pastors' perceptions and definitions of ministry issues confirmed that when identity is clarified, potentials and boundaries are seen more clearly.
