The survey was verified by a group of ministry leaders and then administered to the leadership team of Joy Community Fellowship.  A second survey was given to a cross-section of the congregation.  The Ministry Influence survey showed where the leadership team of Joy needed to spend their time, energy, and finances to have the most impact and influence for Christ. Encouragers will be trained to assimilate and disciple new converts through an introductory retreat, eight weekly sessions, and four follow-up sessions. The project focused specifically upon the implementation and training phase of the larger team-based ministry plan.  The duration of this project was approximately eighteen months.  The principal objective was to train ESA regional leadership in the basic principles of team-based ministry. Min. project explored a number of issues and concepts about pastoral leadership in starting new churches that affect the growth and health of the new church.  It also tested a particular 'Profile of an Organizing Pastor' to see if it could predict which ministers would be most successful in starting new churches.  The research was a survey of the first pastors of non-racial/ethnic Presbyterian churches organized between 1982-1992. The initial research was accomplished through Dallas Baptist Association, the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the Dallas Public Library, and the Dallas Morning Newspaper.
