The project director accomplished this in four steps. Step one was to gather the demographics of Lee County, Alabama, to better understand the need for age-graded discipleship. Step two was to explore the existing models and methods of discipleship to find best practices. Step three was to develop a discipleship strategy for the NextGen ministries at First Baptist Church of Opelika. A strategic planning team was used to develop the strategy. At the conclusion of step three,a comprehensive strategy, including a mission statement, vision, core values, milestones, and key events, was developed. The final step was to present the strategy to the Executive Team at First Baptist Church of Opelika for evaluation. Although implementation was outside the project's scope, the strategy was presented to the church and fully implemented in January 2023."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721790118821888,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:27:27.912Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:16:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:23:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6a92c694-9926-42f4-9938-55a1d145b945","accessControl_ssim":["7443a289-d673-4b2f-aa47-8505c56eaaf0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Adults of First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with Family-Centric Disciple-Making Skills"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:16:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:15:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f6611d52-0935-4d34-9bb3-807dccfdf477"],"hasLease_ssim":["f300b8ff-e953-44de-b776-4e490205b5b9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Odom Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2023"],"location_tesim":["Oklahoma"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. To accomplish this purpose, I first researched essential skills needed for familycentric disciple-making. From this research, I created an annotated bibliography on the subject and identified seven groupings of essential skills required to begin the familycentric disciple-making process. From these resources followed the development of acurriculum based on the skills identified. After creating the curriculum, I hosted seven sessions over four weeks for a pre-established small group of six family units ranging from newlyweds to parents of teenagers. The family-centric disciple-making curriculum taught the members of the small group to view disciple-making as more than just family Bible study but a constant part of everyday life. These skills will help the members of this group improve as spiritual leaders inside their own homes. Expert evaluators in discipleship, curriculum design, and small groups provided feedback during the project to ensure the effectiveness of the project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717750413721600,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:23:15.350Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:08:19Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:58:03Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"270bc35f-2866-43d9-8bd4-d1dc57ea2e2b","accessControl_ssim":["5385ef1c-0d06-4cbe-b684-9fa6c0d9d958"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a Community-Needs Assessment of Selected Elementary Students and Their Families for First Baptist Church, Longview, Texas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:08:18Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:16:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["178e6c0c-ed74-40d4-9a4e-dbac37fb0c90"],"hasLease_ssim":["46fcd463-90ad-4676-bfd1-34d4f0e2c128"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Reggie R Ogea Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2022"],"location_tesim":["Texas"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The individuals and the families of those on the Autism Spectrum Disorder are not present in our worship services. This neuro-different population is not participating in communal worship, nor are their family members. It is time for intentional outreach to this important and tremendous segment of our general population. Anecdotal evidence shows that quite often the parents of children on the spectrum are worried about both the reactions and welcome their child might generate and receive, and the disruption their child may bring to the service. However, the strong theme of hospitality throughout scripture, including the teachings of Jesus, compel us to be welcoming and accepting. Providing some basic education to the congregations will increase the likelihood of a community that is able to truly welcome and embrace the individuals and families of those on the spectrum. Additionally, embracing all of God's children, including those who are neuro-different, brings new gifts and talents into the gathering and ministries of the organizations. Pastorally, all people are in need of safe places to worship, grow spiritually and to receive care and support. In addition, many of the normal activities and programs of worshipping communities will prove to be greatly beneficial to those on the spectrum, proving unintentional intervention simply by offering acceptance and interaction. This paper encompasses the theological implications of hospitality, provides a four week educational series for all members of the congregation, and has some helpful hints and understandings for those in leadership or who volunteer in various ministries where they may work directly with those on the spectrum."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"identifier_tesim":["http://archive.lancasterseminary.edu/items/show/1829"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1851873242956955648,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:52:29.048Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:02:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:10:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bc266688-93ac-4666-9aa8-7b2fb8eac136","accessControl_ssim":["5c812c3b-2d58-4556-9cb1-22adae899d9f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Parents at Southside Baptist Church, Ozark, Alabama, as the Primary Disciple Makers of Their Children"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:02:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:33:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["adc25519-d892-4833-aa09-26e9e5c03c96"],"hasLease_ssim":["4ef9d32b-806f-4e9a-a162-02a4592a5364"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Teman Knight"],"year_tesim":["2022"],"location_tesim":["Alabama"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project was also intended to strengthen the whole church, inspiring parents and their children to both become more active and grow through the experience."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125329905975296,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:10:24.596Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:34:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:17:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"db003d10-0ed6-4209-94b4-c0a38d5d2862","accessControl_ssim":["28de6b07-5ea1-43c4-9ff3-853768289e58"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Parents with Best Practices to Disciple Children at Concord Baptist Church, Clermont, Georgia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:34:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:23:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0716065b-5992-42ec-95d6-7efec2ade42e"],"hasLease_ssim":["88cb3452-0b00-493a-906b-0d59015e2643"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Odom Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["Georgia"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project director began by researching the field of discipling children and producing a comparative analysis to determine the best practices. He then produced a report of six best practices for discipling children in the home. Next, the project director developed curriculum to train parents how to use the best practices discovered and use the curriculum to teach a selected group of parents at the church with the best practices. Through the process, the project director increased his knowledge of discipleship practices in the home and in equipping families to lead their children spiritually. These barriers are also present in Christian congregations. However, many congregations express a godly desire to love people with disabilities and their families without these obstacles. The Old and New Testaments provide examples of how God’s people sought to love people with disabilities in their midst creatively and intentionally in response to God’s gracious actions, invitation, and command. Recent research in disability studies routinely highlight the necessity of being attentive to the uniqueness of each person with disabilities and his or her family. Recent work in the realm of sanctification also encourages Christians to practice active righteousness and vocation with an emphasis upon loving specific neighbors. In light of current research, this project attempted to better understand the effects of a person-centered disability awareness seminar about the pastor’s own child in a single congregation using a mixed methods approach. A pretest posttest design was used in the quantitative phase of the research utilizing the Multidimensional Attitudes Scale Toward Persons with Disabilities (MAS) to measure attitudes (N = 42). A focus group was used in the qualitative phase of research (N = 7). Results suggest a person-centered disability awareness seminar can be an effective way to improve attitudes and relational engagement in a congregational setting."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://scholar.csl.edu/dmin/159/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, MO)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c233458a-014a-46a2-aa34-c5309c85f7e6"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126516935950336,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:29:16.636Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:30:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:02:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ab826fd2-df05-4f96-801b-d2aaf42e8923","accessControl_ssim":["536d1696-c5c4-43e5-8dd6-fefd0db5e0f5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Investigating and Increasing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Children's Ministry at Victory Church of Melbourne, Florida"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:05:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d1b592f1-1664-4aec-b43e-253322c7cc15"],"hasLease_ssim":["0496f8d6-c4d7-46bc-97a0-8d5811802c2f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Bethel Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jason Esposito"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["Florida"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stanley R Patton"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","Children--Religious life","Church work with children","Leadership--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study was to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the children’s ministry at Victory Church of Melbourne, Florida, a growing multicultural and multigenerational church. Conversations with the children’s ministry team, parents, child participants, and the senior pastor of Victory indicated that changes needed to be implemented in order to grow the ministry. This project used a case study methodology, focusing on a church with similar demographics as Victory, to discover the underlying factors needed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Victory’s children’s ministry. To test the working theory that an increase in resources, team leadership, and parental involvement leads to increased effectiveness and efficiency, surveys were sent to three children’s ministry leaders from the case study church. Interviews were then conducted to follow up on survey responses. The resulting quantitative and qualitative data was analyzed using the Qualtrics platform. The findings suggest that there are five components needed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the children’s ministry at Victory Church: a vision/philosophy of children’s ministry based on the great commission; adequate resources/funding for the children’s ministry; key staff leadership; parental involvement; and strategic planning and the development of organizational systems."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://spark.bethel.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1503\u0026context=etd"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128610477703168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:02:33.193Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":83,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
