I designed and implemented a four-session retreat that combined theological foundations, leadership development, and the 4MAT teaching model to help student leaders integrate biblical truth with daily practice. This approach was grounded in the conviction that Gen Z athletes require more than information transfer; they need a holistic transformation that shapes identity, relationships, and mission.\r\n\r\nThe methodology included pre-retreat preparation, lesson design, and \r\nimplementation within the Auburn University Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Each session followed the 4MAT cycle, Why, What, How, and What If, to ensure engagement across diverse learning styles. Evaluations drew from feedback from ministry leaders, participant reflection forms, and direct observation.\r\n\r\nThe results demonstrated growth in participants’ confidence, clarity, and practice of missional living. Students reported greater understanding of their identity in Christ, increased boldness in gospel conversations, and commitment to servant leadership. The project consisted of three steps to achieve this goal. The first step involved researching the field of discipleship to determine the essential elements for a disciple’s life. The second step in the process was to develop a curriculum that incorporated the vital elements decided upon in the first step. The third and final step was to identify a group of students and equip them with the essential elements for the life of a disciple. To succeed in this purpose, I researched the field of discipleship to gain a foundational understanding of biblical discipleship. I examined demographic trends concerning current and upcoming generations of college-aged adults and distilled four competencies to effectively disciple college-aged believers. The competencies were framed within and expounded upon through the lens of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s mission statement. Subsequently, I developed and implemented a four-week curriculum to equip selected adults to disciple college-aged adults. I employed evaluative measures to assess participants’ progress in the identified discipleship competencies.
