An older adult council was organized and trained to interview 148 older adults, finding them healthy, active, and affluent Christians claiming interesting, meaningful lives. The research begins with an examination of nature of retirement in the church and society and how that has brought about the 'rise and fall' of the theory of disengagement.  The remedy presented is for ministry with and for the aging to be grounded in the Christian view of aging.  Aging is then examined in Christian perspectives, through an examination of aging in the Bible, Christian theological tradition, and contemporary society.  Chapter 4 reports the act of ministry itself, a life-review process \u0026 ten class sessions to be used by a pastor to nurture \u0026 equip aging individuals \u0026 groups to remain engaged in the worship and work of the church. Chapter 5 is appraisal of the act based upon the responses of two persons who participated in the act of ministry, interpretation of data collected, \u0026 an appraisal in retrospect \u0026 prospect. Intentional visitation ministries to aged shut-ins focus on the emotional and spiritual needs related to their well-being.  A ten-week training program and visitation assignments help equip persons with knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to the priestly function of ministry with the aged and dying.  A training group and control (non-training) group visited two groups of aged shut-ins. Surveys and focused interviews evaluated the effect of the training program. The people were asked what they needed and then the church developed the program. Most older people want to live in their own home as long as possible. Fifteen persons, 65 years of age or older, were enlisted in an eleven-week training session designed to equip them for ministry projects of their choosing, to undergird them in ministering through the selected ministry projects, and to guide them in evaluating the projects they selected. This project sought to carry out an experiment in caring ministry by training laypersons to care for the aged in the Donam community in Seoul, Korea. The results of pre- and posttests showed that the attitudes and beliefs of these laypersons regarding the nature and function of the church were significantly changed through participation in caring ministry.
