Focus group interviews were conducted to provide data for qualitative analysis. Participants' stories included the needs they brought to the ministry and the resultant healing and growth which came through a sense of safety, community and other aspects of God's mediating love.  Theoretical resources for synthesis and theological reflection on the focus group data included John Bowlby, Charles Gerkin, Henri Nouwen and Merle Jordan.  The nature of attachment, separation and loss and evolving God and self-images were noted. The single adults in Highland Park United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas, are engaged in designing and implementing the model for such a community. In this practicum/project, methodology includes questionnaires, Sunday school lessons, a course on prayer, design teams and retreats. A small minority of the single adults participates in a continuing prayer fellowship.
