Through a program based upon the gestalt cycle of experience and conducted in a university context, alienated Catholics were encouraged to redefine their religious symbols. Among the primary findings of this study is the conviction that all alienation is fundamentally self-alienation; that religion is inevitably ambivalent; and that religious alienation manifests as sin, as a development crisis, or as systematically generated hopelessness."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129403244150784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:15:09.234Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:07:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:26:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f534a1dd-b2a7-48c9-84e4-67223f051094","accessControl_ssim":["4eb72468-56ce-4b88-97a8-65cf43f93d92"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A faith journey: moral development for collegians"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:07:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:08:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ffa0d1e1-2ed6-4071-9910-4323f16b109d"],"hasLease_ssim":["4e3a0033-081d-4bd0-a953-234e11d9286c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Newell J Wert"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["LeRoy W Kettinger"],"keyword_tesim":["Tests and measurements in religion"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Developmental psychology","Faith development","Fowler, James W","Church work with students","Kegan, Robert","Roberts Wesleyan College (Rochester, NY)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Lessons for collegians to use in small reflection/action groups were produced and field tested at the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College. The lessons sought to combine current social science moral development theory with religious and theological insights so as to support and enhance moral/spiritual development. Foundational to the project was a theory base and paradigm produced by the author outlining and defining morally/spiritually rooted cultures. Robert Kegan and James Fowler influenced this material. Research included the field test and the development of a Moral/Spiritual Awareness Inventory which was also used in a limited external sample. The inventory does seem to measure moral/spiritual development. The field test showed the lessons supportive of growth in moral/spiritual development."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130110299996160,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:26:23.535Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:44:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:06:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6a3a8a18-84bb-4146-8a5d-6255857e5c34","accessControl_ssim":["e2b7d041-93f7-4b3a-8d6c-411fe43ef4bf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christian nurture through discipleship at Nebraska Christian College"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:44:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:14:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["aaf5469a-7b14-467e-af8c-5d43d41a3ea7"],"hasLease_ssim":["248b94bf-8d21-42b6-ae28-0cb660802509"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["North American Baptist Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David V De For"],"keyword_tesim":["Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["North American Baptist Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theology, Practical","Church work with students","Groome, Thomas H","Spiritual direction","Nebraska Christian College (Norfolk, Neb)","Christian life","Interpersonal relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project used a modification of Thomas H Groome's 'shared praxis' to develop a program of discipleship for a group of selected students. Students were evaluated by empirical observation, that involved the student, a peer, and adviser, and the discipler, and reproducibility in a second small group. The students practiced relational skills and the spiritual disciplines of: daily prayer, Bible reading, time stewardship, group accountability and journal keeping. The discipler served as a mentor and as a model for the disciplines.
