Also, rather than indiscreetly misunderstanding the intention of others or judging them with a preconceived notion, we need determination to see them as individuals different from me. The author researched biblical models of leadership transition and interviewed clergy for their input in creating this tool. A draft of this transition tool was used by two congregations during their respective transitions in clergy leadership. A Support Network of Coaches (SNC) was trained in advanced Christian Coaching techniques.  Each SNC coached a local pastor.  Both the SNC and the local pastor evaluated the coaching initiative by rating the effectiveness of the process and giving written comments. This mixed methods study revealed that there is a connection between church leadership development efforts and how the workforce views the leadership as servants. A survey offering ideals evaluated how well pastors yielded to God within their ministry vocations. Demographics provided insight into detailed kenotic inclination. As a result, pastors showed areas of resistance and embrace of kenosis. Demographics illustrated kenosis highly among female clergy and deacons. Length of time in ministry reflected an ebb and flow. It was determined from the research data that the essence of a call to ministry is a personal and supernatural encounter with the Holy that results in the authorization of, commitment to, and empowerment for a divine commission. This study focuses on a particular Baptist body, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the experiences of some of its recent seminary graduates transitioning into pastoral ministry. The report explores three particular dynamics associated with heathy transitions for first-call ministers: peer learning, mentoring, and congregational support. The key concept was a good beginning - how a new pastor might make an intentionally good beginning.  In order to define a good beginning the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions were examined, and LCMS district presidents were interviewed. They gave their definitions and suggested names of pastors who had started well.  Those pastors were then interviewed to add their insights. The existing resources were also examined.
