Research of published material reviewed statistical reports, dissertations, published works, and internet sources. These were scrutinized in conjunction with surveys and subsequent interviews with ministers in transition and denominational officials.  Prevention and intervention strategies were evaluated, resulting in recommendations to bring healing to and reintegration of pastors into career ministry.  Emphasis is placed on a mentor/friend relationship to guide both minister and family through the transition. The study attempted to discover the impact or effects of such an experience--solely from the vantage point or perspective of the pastor. As such this study was intended to be an impact study and the research methodology qualitative in nature. This decision falls into the category of 'wisdom matters' since Scripture does not directly address this subject. Through the work of a transition committee during a six to twenty-four month period on a five part self-study examining the history, polity, denominational linkage, vision and commitment to new leadership the church will identify inherent problematic issues and keep them from resurfacing in the tenure of the next pastor.
