In keeping with the equipping model, the project began with the project director's research in the field of philosophical ethics and pastoral ethics. The project director also researched the age, pastoral experience, and education level of the bivocational pastors in four Baptist associations within a fifty-mile radius of Wallace State Community College. Upon completion of the research, the project director developed curriculum based upon the findings from the research. This thesis examines the Apostle Paul's Christ-centered ministry practice when handling controversies and conflicts within the Corinthian church in Second Corinthians as a useful biblical leadership paradigm for recovery ministry in a wounded congregation. Included in this thesis is a summary of recent research on the common challenges and experiences of pastors who minister in wounded congregations and a series of interviews with select people who have experience and/or expertise in various facets of ministry to wounded congregations. In response to these findings and questions, a standard of care and the norms that ground it within the sacred foundation of ministry was developed. In short, credible preaching requires credible preachers.    Chapter one introduces the thesis. Chapter two seeks to demonstrate from Scripture that the possession of godly character constitutes part of God's call to preach. It is also proposed that possessing godly character is a practical necessity for any preacher who hopes to effectively proclaim God's truth on earth and gain an abundant entry into heaven. Furthermore, chapter two seeks to define the godly character Scripture requires of a preacher. Finally, this chapter offers three means available to preachers for the development of godly character in their lives.    Chapter three of this paper reviews both secular and religious literature from the fields of communication, preaching, and leadership. This review focuses on research and literature that support the premise the who a preacher is cannot be separated from  what a preacher proclaims.    Chapter four is the final product of this project--a book. The book, entitled The sermon of your life, is based on the contents of chapters two and three. These objectives were the recruitment of students, development of the project program, implementation of the program, and initiation of the codes by participants. The evaluation of the program reflects completion of the goal, good overall participation by the project group, and positive evaluations of the program by program
