Although the pre- and post-tests were paper and pencil tests, they were designed to test hands-on capabilities in time management, church finances, church business meetings, lay training, and office procedures. Guest speakers and movies, as well as discussions, covered a general overview of the problem in New Hampshire and elsewhere, the various categories of abuse, means of prevention, and methods of treatment.  Special attention was given to the response of the clergy to child abuse--their legal responsibility to report it, their moral responsibility to accept it, and their need to deal with their own psychological reaction to it. This project report offers: a theological and developmental context for ministry with and by youth; a weekend training model for enabling peer ministry; short and long term evaluations of the model's effectiveness; and, finally, suggestions for expanding and improving the proffered model.
