This project is qualitative in nature; case study research was the primary methodology employed. A biblical theology of inter-cultural community was defined focusing on spirituality, hospitality, and missionality. Ethnographic tools were utilized to determine the emic perspective of the multi-cultural setting of Bethel Christian Fellowship. Characteristics of inter-cultural leaders in a multi-cultural setting were discovered. Transformational dynamics needed to shift a local church to an inter-cultural mindset were described. Churches can have and do all the 'right things': congregational unity, biblically faithful worship and teaching, baptisms, large missions receipts, deep savings, community outreach programs, and denominational notoriety--and yet dontinue to experience numerical stagnation and even decline. This project discusses the local church as a living organism exploring the theory that every church is unique such that identifying and actively expressing its congregational DNA can lead to revitalization. In this study the responses to a series of congregational surveys, interviews, and inventories were 'interpreted' and used to identify a church's DNA. As a result the church identified and realized the difference between its actual and merely 'aspirational' core values, discovered the gifts and passions of its people, and developed and implemented an informed DNA-based revitalization strategy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133025418870784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:43.609Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:20:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5633bf52-c347-4c8e-83db-d3c85d459e78","accessControl_ssim":["01c62d49-c017-4c1e-b4fc-d4a47c07a942"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["One new humanity: an exploration of the factors that contribute to the formation and sustenance of multirecial congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:20:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:39:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f8f451a8-d863-44e3-b7cd-39bd35588257"],"hasLease_ssim":["283760bf-73fe-4d39-a67f-a6fde082369b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Todd Scoles"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ikwo Umosen"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Race relations","Church on the North Coast (Lorain, Ohio)","Racially mixed people"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to discover the factors that assisted in the formation and sustenance of the multiracial non-denominational church of the North Coast, in Lorain, Ohio. The primary focus was whether the building of multiracial congregations promotes racial understanding and reconciliation in a pluralistic society like the United States. To achieve that purpose, 40 Blacks and 40 Whites were surveyed and the data was categorized and analyzed. An overwhelming majority of the participants said love and acceptance were very important factors in breaking the barriers that prevent the building and sustaining of multiracial congregations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["beb93775-0b27-4cc6-9fb0-f2ad62e68517"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130707820544000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:53.375Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:14:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:44:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0dbe7372-762f-47cb-a79f-5552d46dcf4f","accessControl_ssim":["b24c92a7-3703-4d6d-9db3-f39a1f1de7b2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The implications of generational theory for crafting of worship in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:14:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:30:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2542f609-1bbd-4dd8-bd57-556b03863b1c"],"hasLease_ssim":["13b6f872-c93a-4abd-89a8-30fc1261dee8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Martha L Moore-Keish"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Todd R Wright"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Intergenerational relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Churches have always been comprised of multiple generations, but a lengthening life-span means that churches may now include five generations, each with their own characteristics, values, and voice.
