The author conducted this project at Walden Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolina. Walden is a minimum security correctional institution. In undertaking this study the author seeks to understand the impact, effect and affect that recidivism makes in the lives of men who frequently go in-and-out of corrections. Also, he seeks to understand the impact, effect and affect that recidivism has on the inmates' family and community. This project proposes that a man who frequently goes in-and-out of corrections has experienced acute dysfunction and or woundedness through poor parental relationships, poor or no formal education, and poor or no relationship with God. The author uses an action research methodology whereby he is able to invite the inmates to share their autobiographical stories, reframe them with a view toward dramatically altering their lifestyles. It is the hope of the author that the inmates will have genuine and authentic learning experiences which will transform their lives, renew their minds and empower them by faith to get out of corrections and stay out. The project goals are to reduce the rate of recidivism by helping the recidivists realize transformation, restoration, renewal and reconciliation with God, self and others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131185369317376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:43:28.801Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:31:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2a72a530-c0fc-4b66-8dfd-21e59fc2d815","accessControl_ssim":["ff68eeae-f656-4079-b623-14b3ab6a8bfa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Bondage breakers, Inc.: a model for performing aftercare services after incarceration"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:22:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8706cd62-d519-4d4d-b82d-53f375c2730e"],"hasLease_ssim":["96d5cb69-2339-4a35-a613-1cf3ba910e90"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Marvin A McMickle"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Alicia J Malone"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Criminals--Rehabilitation","Church work with prisoners"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project offers practical and spiritual assistance to the incarcerated, the ex-offenders and their children in Ohio and the Akron, Summit County area.
