Employing anthropological and biblical perspectives, this project analyzes four religious beliefs and practices that prevent acceptance of Christianity among Ashantis, finding that a major problem is the traditional Ashanti concept of God as remote, unapproachable, and unavailable in times of crisis. Yet such countries often lack proper training for missionaries. This project proposes to prepare 10 Korean families for cross-cultural evangelism in a 10-week program at Global Missionary Training Center in Seoul, Korea. Included in the project curriculum are research assignments and experiences designed to prepare these families for missionary life. This project develops a program to improve conflict management skills of a Canadian Chinese church. Beginning with research into biblical views and contemporary theories of conflict, the project reviews Chinese concepts of 'harmony,' 'honor,' and relational patterns of thinking. This project prepared a selected group of native believers to present a positive Christian witness in the context of native culture. Through participation in a seminar members of the group grew in their understanding of Christianity and culture. They acquired skills necessary to witness to nonreceptive and hostile people.
