The study more narrowly attempts to emphasize that churches and communities are in the midst of social (racial) and economic change and most churches facing transition wait too long to act.  The significance of cultural variety in our social system and its parallel implications speak to the ministry of the local church. The study includes a review of the sociological factors that are at work in the communities where multi-ethnic congregations are often found.  Factors such as economics, housing, government, and people movement are discussed. These methods were introduced into an existing anti-racism workshop.  Hypotheses were tested (with control and test groups) which predicted that using values clarification methods would result in more positive statements; fewer hostile statements; and more positive attitudes toward Native Americans.  All hypotheses comparing control and test groups were rejected. One workshop and a sermon series were used in the test congregation to transform the church into a more inclusive faith community.  The results of the post-test questionnaire showed that attitudes and assumptions of the test congregation have been transformed. The methodology used was a sociological model of communication-dialogue, which included the Spiritual Journeys of two multicultural pastors and dialogue between two multicultural groups.  The applied treatment revealed little difference between the two cultures as it relates to ideas about Christianity.  There were differences, however, in how the two cultures viewed each other.
