Normally, an individual deals with a professional organization or a set of rules defined by their employer to provide guidelines for ethical decision-making. This is not the case for military chaplains, specifically Family Life Chaplains; they have multiple areas of influence that provide input when dealing with ethical dilemmas. Military chaplains are provided input from their ecclesiastical endorser; their religion; their scripture; military regulations; military memoranda; other military documents; professional organizations; federal, state, and other laws; and other areas. When confronted with an ethical decision, chaplains need to take into consideration all of these pieces of input, figure out a way to organize them in a hierarchical format, and then make an informed decision that is in the best interest of the person they are helping. This paper presents a five-step process and uses a graphical presentation based on the genogram to provide a visual representation of the decision making model. A key component of the model takes into consideration multiple 'informants' or ourtside influences that impact the individual's decision-making when confronted with an ethical dilemma and helps them organize the 'informants' into a logical, hierarchical format to assist in making a decision. A variety of methods for approaching case consultations have been primarily physician-focused, leaving the role of the clinical ethicist from the perspective of the family overlooked.  Indicating a gap in the process of end-of-life decision making, family members identified seven categories about their experience of decision making. Participants in 12-step programs register a score significantly higher statistically on representations of God as Loving than do those in Rational Recovery. Participants in Rational Recovery and other nonspiritual groups tend to score significantly higher on representations of God as Wrathful. Theological insights from J Fowler, ethicist Glen Stassen, and Craig Dykstra were woven into a complex decision-making model for ethical decision-making. Literary research from Chile, as well as the United States, revolved around the cultural factors that operate within this focused Latin American community.  Theological, pastoral, and structural factors were considered as well. The social research tools involved structured interviewing and pretest/posttest questionnaires. This development creates for families the difficult choice whether or not they should donate the viable organs of a family member who has died. The emotional aspects that follow death may complicate the decision-making process; yet, the situation demands a timely decision.  The purpose of this project is: 1) to examine the ethical and theological issues involved in the decision, and 2) to develop a guide that provides the essential facts and considerations which any patient or family member should reflect on in the decision-making process.  The study is limited to an investigation of organs suitable for transplantation and to considerations that face the potential donor or consenting family member. It proposes a Christian theological viewpoint that supports the donation of organs that are still viable for transplant. A survey was taken of a number of churches and pastors in urban, suburban and rural areas to gain an understanding of the relationship of preaching to moral decision making.  Out of this a determination of satisfaction with pulpit ministry was compared to satisfaction with other pastoral functions.
