In this dissertation the author surveyed and interviewed missionaries to determine what spiritual disciplines most helped them stay effective in their ministry. The results of this research point out certain spiritual disciplines which missionaries use to remain spiritually healthy-prayer, engaging Scripture, worship, fellowship, and service.  Other disciplines were done to a lesser extent.  There was also recognition by the missionaries that workload, busyness, one's environment, and cross-cultural living impacted the effective practice of those disciplines. A prayer guide was used during the forty day exercise. Interviews and a questionnaire were used to capture the participants' prayer practices before and after the forty days. The analysis of the participants' responses provided the research with a before and after picture of the participant's prayer lives. This report explores the relationship between prayer and devotional practices and theories of personality type. It uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a primary instrument in determining what particular practices are beneficial and sustainable by the faithful. The results of the study prominently indicated that all of the project goals were acheived. Data was collected through surveys given pre, post, and four weeks after the study.  The results were tabulated to determine shifts towards diversity and inclusion.  The strongest shift occurred towards seeing diversity as a positive aspect of community. In seeking an entire congregational response to one particular devotional, I hope to develop patterns and habits of daily devotions and therefore, motivate more of the congregation to seek spiritual nurture through daily devotions once the seasons outlined in this devotion are completed.  This devotion is a thematic, word study devotional.  We explore one topic or theme for each week examining the many ways a particular word or word group is used in the Old and New Testaments. The tool consists of ten sets of brief quotations from Christian spirituality resources, arranged topically. The author distributed the readings via e-mail and asked for reflective responses. Pre- and post-assessment surveys revealed that participants grew in appreciation for formational reading and reflective practice, developed an increased awareness of writings in the area of spiritual formation, and grew in their awareness of their relationship with God.
