The goals of the study were twofold: (1) assist in the design and implementation of a prototype hybrid preaching course; and (2) conduct the study to determine students' reactions to the design and implementation of the course. Two questions framed the study to ascertain students' feelings regarding how the course was designed to deliver content: (1) How would students react to a prototype hybrid course in preaching? (2) What recommendations would students offer to enhance learning and improve future hybrid course development? Data was collected by electronic survey, focus groups and individual interviews. The area of discipleship used to test this means of teaching was evangelism.  Each online class session included video teaching and follow-up questions that were answered in an online forum. The outcome of the study was determined by comparing the results of each participant's pre-test and post-test. Three additional tracks were started beyond theology, including youth ministry, musicology and iconology. This facilitated a tremendous program growth, including in the number and percentage of women. Students volunteered to participate in a project that offered course and thesis support, counseling, fellowship and prayer. This was done via telephone, internet and standard mail. Surveys and numerous other contacts identified demographics as well as student ministry goals, program satisfaction and student stated program needs. The study concluded that student support services would enhance distance learning theological education.
