The findings of this study are based on library research, listening and 20 years of the researcher's pastoral experience.  The study concludes that marriage is a this-world human institution planned by God (Gen 2:18, Matt 22:30).  It was planned for alleviation of loneliness, a fulfilling sexual intercourse, procreation, economic support and mutual responsibility for God's creation. Although monogamy is portrayed as the ideal, polygamy is validated as marriage. The group was conducted through the Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center of Nacogdoches, Texas, for a period of seven weeks.  Twelve people chose to participate in the group led by the writer.  Presentations were also made by a pastoral counselor and clinical psychologist. Each session included an opportunity for group members to share their problems with one another. The student developed the model and utilized it within a Christian context in seven weekly sessions of two hours each, and then concluded with a twenty-four hour retreat at a nearby facility. The purpose of the practicum was to provide a setting in which counseling skills would be improved and in which awareness of women's experiences would be increased.  The project provided an opportunity for reporting the practicum findings and incorporating this information into theological reflection. Four experiential small groups were conducted in the development of the program sponsored by the Immanuel Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky.  The methodology was largely intuitive, integrating the life experience of the author and psychological and theological literature.  The stated goal was to guide young adults toward emotional and spiritual healing within the small group context.  The series of instruction and support was designed to help adults identify connections between experiences of parental divorce and present relationship difficulties. Biblical materials dealing with divorce and related pastoral care issues were explored to provide foundation, context and themes for this ministry. Out of these themes came the five sessions of the adult child of divorce workshop. The Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale and the General Well Being Schedule were given to the attendees in a pre-test and post-test format. Subjective, short-answer questionnaires were given along with the two tests. Both the objective and subjective data showed significant change in the attendees.
