As a result the writer developed and taught the course, 'Towards an evangelical understanding of Roman Catholicism,' covering post-Vatican II theological developments using concepts of adult education. Although evangelicals have serious doctrinal differences with the Catholic Church, this does not rule out cooperation. The course seemed to slightly increase knowledge of the Catholic Church and confidence in sharing the gospel with Catholics. Eleven of these institutions are in North America.  The emergence of spiritual formation offices on each campus is a rather new development.  This project describes and critiques spiritual development programs at four Nazarene universities in North America.  The study explores the interaction between a Wesleyan understanding of sanctification and spiritual formation. Information gathered through open-ended interviews was used to determine what programs were most effective. This project consisted of a series of financial seminars.  The research design was pretest and posttest, using ten identical questions on each test. Research conducted identified that other Black church studies Doctor of Ministry programs may have gaps relating to collaborative efforts between the academy and practical ministry.  A survey questionnaire was used to identify the interest in participating in such a model and the structural design for the model. The author verified his thesis, through quantitative and qualitative measurements. The team members' mindsets were changed through the process. Thus a method for culturally informed ministry is presented: (1) Awareness of the fundamental importance of culture for pastoral ministry; (2) Knowledge of one's own culture and the other culture(s); (3) Cross cultural ministerial skills. Groome's model was applied to ministry in Mexican American faith communities.
