The methodology involved setting up the kind of learning atmosphere that would allow the adults to utilize each other as the primary resources for learning. Five guidelines comprise the primary criteria. They are: 1. does the course provide helpful tools for meta-communication; 2. does the course provide opportunity for interaction, lead to engagement, and allow for transformation; 3. does the course enable and encourage hope; 4. is the course synergistic; and 5. does the course provide for the building of trust sufficient to meet the level of threat to be experienced by participants.
