The research used a mixed methods design. The findings supported the following conclusions. The R2E program was successful in attaining its development goal. Yet, theological educators did not perceive mentored education programs like R2E as a possible alternative to formal theological training for evangelists or church planters. Considering that many churches are declining or have plateaued, this study sought to discover practical, effective strategies and techniques that have contributed to overall church growth by baptism and conversion. The author asked what these practices were, how they were taught, and how they were modeled by the leadership. The author's research preceding the case study gives a review and foundation from the early church's teaching and experience in evangelism, discipleship, missions, pastoral leadership, and church growth to the present. A closer look was given at the causes and effects of little to no obedience and commitment to the Great Commission. The project is a study of congregational approaches and strategies for ministry to inactives. The research portion of the project included a survey of large rural congregations regarding their approach to inactive members. A follow-up interview was conducted with pastors of selected congregations that participated in the survey. This research, along with the literature review, informed the recommendations for a comprehensive approach for Christian caregiving of inactives in a large, rural congregation. This project studied the association between prayer for non-Christians and evangelistic attitudes and behaviors. Does a directed focus upon evangelistic prayer increase intrinsic  evangelistic attitudes and behaviors toward people without faith? Does prayer increase receptivity towards non-Christians -- an attitude change that leads to behavior change? Research focused upon qualitative analysis in case study methodology. The following evaluative measures authenticated the project: (1) expert advice on the research from Dr. Scott Pittman, a Brazilian missionary and Partnership Missions Department Director of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and Rev. Rick Thompson, a career missionary with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, serving in Brazil; (2) training in the development of teaching plans from Dr. James Ramage, an author and professor at Northern Kentucky University; and (3) evaluations by the selected group at the completion of the training sessions.
