Chapter 1 sets the context for the project, identifying the need that justifies such a strategy. Chapter 2 examines the historical, biblical, and theological implications of expository preaching and evangelism. The project methodology is examined alongside those principles found and then implemented accordingly. Chapter 3 continues to look at expository preaching and evangelism, but does so from a sociological and psychological viewpoint. The goal is to identify challenges facing the church so that an appropriate plan may be devised to overcome them. Chapter 4 details the process and method of the project. A series of expository sermons was presented while an ongoing evangelism training strategy was implemented. The result was the successful implementation of many new technologies at GUMC. Various approaches to evangelism and church development are explored, with evaluation of evangelistic efforts of other regions and local Disciples churches in Florida. This project shows how the use of present day tools can be a means to win people to Christ. However, very few church workers have opportunity to receive formal teaching about the truth of the gospel. As a result, the foundation of the faith of the believers becomes terribly weak and unstable. The goal of this project is to teach church workers in China the basic truth of the gospel in a Chinese context for personal evangelism. It will seek to contextualize the truth of the gospel with the unique characteristics of ancient Chinese written characters, which amazingly contain the stories of the gospel. Church workers will learn the knowledge and skills of utilizing a figurative and factual way to share the gospel with Chinese-contextualized messages.
