This study sought to develop and test a model to train church planters in Eastern Europe.  This model was built around the multiplication mechanism found in 2 Timothy 2:2. A biblical study of church planting was done to establish a basis for the model and provide materials for teaching a church planting course. Ten New Testament principles of evangelism form the basis for evaluating the three case studies as well as providing the theological orientation for the strategy.  The three-step strategy takes a chronological approach to the task of local church evangelism. Many existing programs of evangelism emphasize the knowledge and experience of the presenter of the gospel.  The emphasis of this project will be on recognizing and ministering to the needs of the receiver of the gospel message, the international student.  The eleven-session project includes two evaluation sessions and one session on the biblical basis for evangelism among international students.  The remaining nine sessions are designed to train American students to develop personal relationships with internationals.  These relationships should become channels through which the gospel is communicated. Training sessions will include information that will prepare the participants to communicate cross-culturally. Participants will also be trained to develop relationships by ministering in three specific areas.  These areas include physical, relational, and spiritual needs. It incorporated learnings from Evangelism Explosion, Walk to Emmaus, and a previous discipling model.  Evaluation indicated that disciple-making contributed to personal growth in evangelism and discipleship. The various approaches taken gave opportunities for ministry beyond expectations.  The results were astronomical. Four main studies were included: the study of prayer's impact upon family evangelism; the effectiveness of having a 'family ties' sermon series and a family outreach Sunday; a look at some barriers to rural evangelism; and the effectiveness of specific training in household evangelism through a retreat format. The study to validate this thesis was conducted in three Central America countries (Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica) with active pastors and ministerial students.  Seminars, workshops, and seminary courses were used to group pastors and students together.  Questionnaires were handed out to participants to measure their knowledge about chaplaincy ministries. The chaplain's job performance was introduced as a model to illustrate another way in carrying out the ministry. The desired results would be a larger number of persons saved and baptized in our church, resulting in church growth.  Before the crusade a telephone survey was conducted, with cards and visits.  The crusade was a success but the retention was terrible.  The people of Antioch Baptist Church worked harder than ever before in evangelism and saw many make professions of faith.  However, 95 percent of those who made professions of faith are no longer attending. A questionnaire was sent to some evangelists in North America inquiring about the effectiveness of various evangelistic methods.  Five evangelistic crusades were conducted.  Two were conducted according to the newly developed strategy and three were conducted without the strategy.  Each crusade conducted with the strategy was analyzed and compared with those that were conducted without the strategy.
