The level of a child's involvement in each segment of the liturgy is ascertained through interviews with and questionnaires completed by children and their parents.  Worship is defined in terms of the biblical materials.  A survey of child development literature is employed in the creation and evaluation of components for worship which involve children.  Planning resources for a church year are developed. A theoretical chapter argues that religious experiences are unique and qualitatively different from natural experiences without, on the opposite extreme, becoming irrelevant magical supernatural events.  Research, by test and interview, explored the relationship between religious experience and service.  Results: People from mainline churches claimed religious experiences that associate with natural reality and extend service that is humanistic and personal in orientation.
