What may appear to some as a crisis of ambiguity about the nature and place of the Ten Commandments in the public and religious spheres in America could be regarded as an opportunity for clarity on the part of preachers.  The study addresses the need for Church of God preachers to engage in cultural dialogue through a fresh preaching of the Ten Commandments.  The literature review surveys scholarly works regarding the context and meaning of the Decalogue in the Old and New Testaments, the meaning of the Commandments in light of a corrosive postmodern value system, and views of scholars and preachers regarding how to preach the Ten Commandments. The study included interviews with six Church of God Movement preachers, with the goal of learning about their experences related to the place of the Decalogue in the pulpit. The thesis is based on Paul Ricoeur's linguistic theory of distanciation: standing before the text, the congregation and preacher can find new meaning.  The methodology encourages imagination in preaching and a genuine dialogue between the congregation and scripture.  It also illustrates Don S. The project researched the characteristics of the modern teenager and developed a model for expository preaching with teenagers. Chapter 1 provides the general definitions, limitations, and context for the project. Chapter 2 offers an overview of wisdom literature, presents a definition of the genre, and discusses its general characteristics. Chapter 3 provides an overview of Christian approaches to proclaiming wisdom literature throughout Christian history and outlines a proposed model for preaching from the wisdom genre. Chapter 4 outlines the implementation of the model at Blue Valley Baptist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. Psalms"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The content of this project revolves around a hypothesis which can only be understood in light of the trepidation that modern preachers feel in opening up to the book of Psalms and not knowing how to handle its poetry for the purpose of producing a well crafted and affectual sermon. It is my hope that through an evaluation of historical sources a preaching method will be developed which matches the Psalms as 'the history of every heart in which has burned the love of God.' This method will incorporate tools of modern exegesis and also add an emotional dimension which has remained underemphasized.
