The project included six weekly reflections of participants' personal faith stories and completion of a pre-test and post-test questionnaire. A God-moved heart through the gospel results in servant leadership. Christians apply the gospel as a discipline. Servant leadership literature focuses on practices neglecting inner-formation. However, virtue models consider inner disposition/character. An instrumental case study indicated that the gospel influenced how leaders treated and responded to others. However, spiritual development was foundational for only two leaders. Findings included the importance of awareness, gospel clarity, and the need to move from a virtues-based to a faith-based model of servant leadership. I first explore the biblical and systematic theology of Christlike maturity. Next, I describe a series of interviews in which the three most common emerging themes affecting spiritual growth among graduate students were: limited time, the need for community, and spiritual growth through crises.
