The Masterculture seminar was then held over a period of three months. It included weekly meals, Bible studies and studies in cultural anthropology. Designed to introduce adult study groups and individuals to a deeper experience of the sacrament, the project focuses on five 'facets of grace': koinonia, anamnesis, eucharistia, thusia and eschaton. Koinonia is God's grace in our connectedness to God and to one another at the table. Anamnesis is God's grace in our remembrance. In recognizing Christ at the table we are enabled to remember our own identity as children as God. Eucharistia is God's grace in our thanksgiving that we are claimed and named by God, and are moved to respond in joyful thanksgiving for the grace we have received. Thusia is God's grace in our sacrifice of ourselves as we offer ourselves in loving service to the world. Eschaton is God's grace in our future, that the connectedness we receive at the table is our hope as God points to the final realization of God's intent for his people."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f245891-e4c1-47d9-842b-9aefbafae138"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135413694365696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:50:41.246Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:02:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:44:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3cee9404-f2c8-418a-90aa-87448f0a55c5","accessControl_ssim":["383c9267-7932-47a1-ae6c-26f8838f1eef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A model for developing lay leadership in the local church which transcends cultural context"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:02:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2f333d4a-1981-4923-b520-3dfa0136a3a3"],"hasLease_ssim":["800c3151-b502-4b90-90b5-d0fb9f9336a2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas M Strong"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This was done to search out ways that would provide a vision for spiritual renewal and spur church growth. Christian fellowship was also used to establish a norm for Christian relationships. The fundamental issue of this aspect of the project dealt with the power structure of the church, how power issues hindered a partnership ministry, and caused people to be divided into separate groups. The primary focal point of this project was to address these issues by looking at images. 'The body of Christ' was utilized to emphasize that the separate groups were a part of the body of Christ. The concluding portion of this project stressed a partnership of ministry. Church members worked as partners because they recognized that Jesus had called them to community where there are different levels of ministry, but all persons are of equal value before God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135111530414080,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:45:53.080Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:46:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:57:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6d00f62b-1162-4e7f-9ceb-1ae55305ddc2","accessControl_ssim":["0e8f86d5-4b2a-4322-b2c9-bf007fce4aed"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Moving an aggregate congregation toward becoming a covenant fellowship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:46:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:19:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1658c654-9872-47ee-93dc-dc8e0aa9095c"],"hasLease_ssim":["528cca8d-aac8-44c7-a1f2-26f54a9f3431"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Don M Wardlaw"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stanley D Farmer"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Covenants--Religious aspects--Christianity","Church growth","Fellowship--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The church has some recognizable characteristics as expressed in the examples of covenant fellowship found in the Bible. However, since no one was incorporated into a nurturing group of believers, the goal of the project was not achieved."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133366869819392,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:09.242Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:16:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:03:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c2a319fa-4e2b-49be-b297-82e873e03c3c","accessControl_ssim":["9162c5e7-c24d-40bf-85e9-91d86536f953"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Encouraging friendship in worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:16:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:43:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["24e117df-2ed1-49d9-98c1-d206ac90312f"],"hasLease_ssim":["68c159d8-8ee2-4f9e-b930-725436314b4e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Anna Case-Winters"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Beverly A Schmidt"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Friendship","Community--Religious aspects","Fellowship--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis proposes that friendship manifests the relationship to which God calls us. Friendship is a minor theme in Scripture and Christian history. Jesus moves all disciples into friendship in the eschatological advance from servanthood. The challenge is to reclaim friendship as a symbol of salvation. In the church's primary activity, its worship, commitment to friendship can satisfy people's need for intimacy and encourage a climate of hospitality. Research shows friendship is a theological expectation in Christian community. The challenge facing the church is to incorporate new members into its life and mission through a process of blending past faith histories and experiences with present needs, goals, and expectations in such a way that a commitment evolves giving direction to the future. By examining the biblical witness, blending families, and organizational development, a blending process which shapes identity emerges.
