The project helped traumatized veterans who experienced posttraumatic stress disorder and moral injury for whom other forms of therapy had not worked. Methods used were cognitive behavioral therapy and prolonged exposure therapy, in the context of a 12-week couples therapy group. Results were resolution of traumatization and forgiveness. The project consisted of five sessions that were three hours each and focused upon issues of arrested spiritual development. The author used two of the Group Curriculum chapters for each of the group sessions. The most significant impact was on forgiveness of others, praying for self and praying for others. The project goals were evaluated using a Likert scale and qualitative measurements. The assessment tool contained open and closed-ended questions. A panel of experts served a evaluators for the eight week Forgiveness curriculum. Participants were seven adults from Good Tree Christian Fellowship who experienced an offense leading to negative emotions. The Enright Forgiveness Inventory measured changes in participants' affect, behavior, and cognition towards an offender. All participants showed growth in each domain with a group average of 26.7% in affect, 10.0% in behavior, and 8.3% in cognition. In order to accomplish this goal, two assumptions regarding forgiveness are made: (1) A discussion of forgiveness must first be grounded in the nature and character of God; and (2) Forgiveness must be understood as a relational issue where sin has caused harm.  To understand these two components of forgiveness, a careful study of Genesis 1-4 is undertaken.  Agape love from offended to offender establishes the base of forgiveness, and forgiveness must address the dynamics of sin expressed in shame, power, self-righteousness, and rage.  These four issues are applicable to both the embezzler and the post-embezzled church.  In order to foster forgiveness in the embezzled church, the embezzler must undergo some kind of transformation. The results of the study suggest that chaplains may have a role in helping patients address their unresolved forgiveness issues and lowered motivation by helping the patients work through a forgiveness process.  For patients with conditions caused at least in part by their own behavior, or even by someone else, offers case studies of pastoral care provided in light of unresolved forgiveness issues and a working through of a forgiveness process.  The study presents a revised model of a forgiveness process that informs the pastoral care provided in the two main case
