This project explains problems associated with that process.  The procedure examines Paul's 'diversity in unity' principle concerning spiritual gifts; the principle in Ephesians 4:11-13 as the proper mobilization model; and the dynamics that evolve within the local church. The study involved use of a two group pretest/posttest to test for knowledge gain as well as three spiritual gift inventories.  Attitude change was measured by use of a semantic differential constructed for this project.  A focused interview was also conducted with small group participants.  The result of the project showed some significant change in attitude toward ministry involvement in those who understood themselves as gifted for ministry. Control and experimental groups were selected and pretested.  The experimental group completed a spiritual gifts questionnaire, were given ministry opportunities, and both groups were posttested after twelve weeks.  Assimilation did occur in the areas of belonging, social interaction and positive perceptions about the church. Some are gifted to be seekers of the gifted.  The challenge is to mobilize these steward-seekers, who can open doors to service, especially at the regional levels of the church.  The method used was to design interventions to test this theory in a particular regional body for several months, after studying the dynamics of volunteerism, biblical teaching, tradition, and current studies in the sociology of groups. He believed people were asked to serve in ways which were not in keeping with their talents and spiritual gifts.  He conducted in-depth interviews with 10 persons to determine their satisfaction in congregational service.  The author then developed a Bible study which included their talents as well as the spiritual gifts topic.  After the study each person prepared a survey form which was given to the congregational gift counselor. The thirteen week project was implemented in three phases.  The project director assisted the participants in discovering, developing, and using their spiritual gifts in ministry tasks.  Activities included sermons, a retreat, training sessions, and field experience. Evaluation involved a pretest and posttest questionnaire, critical observation, and several interviews by the director.
