The rationale given from Scripture is that believers who receive comfort from God should pass that comfort on to others. Library research, personal interviews and life experiences give practical ways in which, by counseling and careful follow-up, comfort may be brought to the dying and to those in mourning.  Research revealed that funeral plans are best made in advance, eliminating unnecessary, hidden expenses and avoidance of emotional trauma. The methodology includes: a review of relevant literature; development of six hypotheses; development of a Bereavement Questionnaire; trial run of the questionnaire with Pearsonian product-moment coefficients of correlations; adaptation of the questionnaire; field distribution and return of 156 questionnaires; factor analysis of data; and evaluation of hypotheses and project.  The analysis of the data confirms five of the six hypotheses.  However, the data of bereaved parents' experience demonstrates a complexity that is not anticipated fully in the hypotheses. Through the use of the theories of C G Jung, this project suggests that the complex constellated around the deceased becomes an important component of the bereft's individuation.  Because this complex is deeply shaken at the death, the ego can no longer access the libido that was provided by the complex and the self's individuation process is stopped.  Dreams and-or visions are the archetypal nucleus of the complex renewed in a symbol.  There are similarities between these grief experiences, near-death experiences and the resurrection appearances of Jesus Christ.
