This project responds to the spiritual and bodily harm of colonialism, capitalism, and white supremacy, which manifests as disembodiment, dualistic thinking, and perfectionism. Through a six-week Critical Participatory Action Research and Arts-Based Participatory Action Research intervention using art, poetry, and lyric (APL), participants moved beyond intellectual knowing into embodied awareness, experiencing increased body trust and a shift from perfectionism to An argument is presented, the purpose of which is to show how Black Liberation Theology enhances Moral Injury Theory and how Moral Injury Theory provides tools for addressing the effects of racism. In so doing, the concept of moral injury strengthens Black Liberation Theology by expanding its resolve to serve within communities affected by racism and indeed with all humanity. In addition, the theology of liberation may provide support for the spiritual attempt to encourage sufferers of moral injury through transcendent concepts such as forgiveness, reconciliation, and perhaps even atonement. A cross-section of ministers from different levels of ministry and different age groups was selected. The project incorporated an eight-week Healing Care Group curriculum and a 15-question survey used to measure their responses. The results revealed a transformational change in the level of awareness of the group. The problem in question was to determine the reasons why clergy face burnout within their context of ministry. The workshop included teaching clergy and lay the definition of crisis, types of crisis, and discussed methods of healing, to include pastoral presence. A mixed methodology of qualitative and quantitative surveys was used to conduct and analyze responses from participants cross-sectionally and longitudinally.
