Human faith can be understood in FST terms.  Christian scripture is comprised of human faith statements .  Thus, FST would seem to be helpful in understanding and applying Christian scripture.  This project reviews Fowler's FST and examines I John 4:1-6 for evidence of Fowler's seven aspects of FST. It infers that the text demonstrates faith stage four aspects and, thus, confirms the thesis that FST can be a hermeneutical tool. The project addresses two issues.  The first is the lack of theological hermeneutics in most mainline Protestants.  The second is a personal need within the author to rework his own understanding of christology.  The education model utilized David Ausabel's 'advance organizer' model because of its techniques of imparting large blocks of new information, and Thomas Groome's 'shared praxis' approach because of its techniques of hooking the inner story of the participant into the story being taught.  As evaluation, class members were tested for content, acceptance of controversial issues, and the adequacy of the education model. The objectives of this project are threefold: 1) It is designed to create a biblically based hermeneutic that utilizes the guidelines of scripture, tradition, experience, and reason; 2) The Bethel Series and the Trinity Bible Studies are evaluated in the light of this hermeneutic.  The evaluation of these series involved the compiling and comparing of questionnaires administered to a class using The Bethel Series and one using the Trinity Bible Series.
