The data was gathered through a spiritual assessment tool and unstructured interviews with terminally-ill persons and their families. The author found that frequent interventions benefited the hospice patients through forming a trusting relationship with the hospice chaplain. This relationship enabled a deeper exploration of spiritual and religious need of the terminally ill.
