Chapter One offers a general discussion of the development of thought on imagination.  Chapter Two presents a study of preaching and imagination.  Chapter Three describes five modes of imagining used in preaching: empathic imagining, prophetic imagining, lyrical-pictorial imagining, playful imagining, and resistant imagining.  Chapter Four reviews the interviews of six preachers who preached homilies in the five modes of imagining.  Chapter Five describes and evaluates a workshop offered for preachers on the modes of imagining.
