The practice of confirmation in a local church provided the setting for the project, conducted over a 13-week period with persons between adolescence and adulthood. A centuries-old tradition which denies the integrity of initiation challenges the church.  This study reviews the history of Christian initiation, focusing on its disintegration, and reports an attempt to reintegrate Christian initiation in one congregation.
