The author embarked on a community development project, bringing together the congregation, neighborhood and community churches, and four targeted neighborhoods in Collierville, TN, creating a coalition: Collierville Connected. Spiritual and leadership development were emphasized in every team meeting. This collaboration or clustering for mission and outreach, enables declining small churches to pool their resources so that in working together in both local and global outreach, they can reclaim their missional call.  This thesis-project demonstrates that after a season of study, discussion and fellowship together, church leaders realize that working together in mission will enable them to do together what they could not do alone.  This thesis-project presents the process, procedures, and study guides used in leading three small membership churches in a six week study of the missional church. Often several churches in the same community evangelize the same people, each then vying for the new converts. There is a better way: collaboration, documentation, and fellowship. Therefore, Chapter one identified biblical patterns of evangelism juxtaposed with evangelistic methods today in St. Albans, NY. Chapter two and three discuss the interrelated theological and anthropological dynamic in collaboration. Chapter four uses the Hexagon exercise with a learning team of neighboring pastors to develop a working methodology. Bible study sessions encouraged a reflection on God, a joint worship service was culturally inclusive, and an economic forum increased knowledge of financial empowerment. The project used case studies to plan CareFest, and surveys and interviews to measure congregants' community service involvement and the perceived impact of such ministry on the church and community; event recipients were also interviewed. Post-event data supports that CareFest achieved its aims. The author will examine the history of the relationship of these communions and what they can say together.  A study of their own guidelines for ecumenical cooperation will examine ways in which they can express a lived, visible unity.  Areas of convergence and divergence will be noted.  A case study of a Lutheran/Catholic ecumenical parish will provide a possible model that could be followed. To achieve this goal, an alliance was formed and participants were engaged in unified multi-denominational and multi-cultural ministries such as prayer services, social gatherings and worship services.  Together the practicing churches took the presence of God into the community in the form of practical ministry: cleanup, vacation Bible school, and worship service in a city park. Chapter 1 presents the problem and states the goals as the solution to the problem. Chapter 2 addresses the biblical rationale for enhancing inter-church Christian fellowship. Chapter 3 shows the credence given to the rationale of the project through the sociological environment, the corporate world, and society in general, for example, the growing place of women in the professional business and public life and the growing importance of the issue in ecumenical relationships, school life, and workplace experiences. In Chapter 4, the focus is the actual procedures of the research project. This chapter encompasses the step-by-step procedure.
