The primary objective was to educate couples on eight dimensions of intimacy and measure the impact on satisfaction and commitment. It was hypothesized that after receiving the education, couples would report increases in intimacy, satisfaction, and commitment. A convenience sample of ten couples participated in a twelve week marital enrichment program. Gender distinction distinguishes Christian marriage, but its impact on emotional intimacy, critical in contemporary marriage, is under-studied. A qualitative study of ten Christian husbands in enduring intergendered marriages yet with a history of same-sex attraction or monogendered relationships, considered able spokesmen for gender effects, confirmed the power of intimacy to forge a lasting marriage. Wives' gender distinction correlated with intimacy, expressed through authority deferral, home care and strong helping. Many reasons surfaced for the gender-intimacy link, providing plausible dynamics for why wives' both inherent qualities and deliberate practices cultivated intimacy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130999306846208,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:40:31.358Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:57:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:16:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3a5fc76f-985a-4cd9-a08e-cca3d3969f81","accessControl_ssim":["6b0d7e3c-5784-45dd-8331-e2aaee14266e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Providing a setting for people to get to know each other deeply enough to know each other's joy and pain in the Connecticut Conference, United Church of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:57:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:49:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["12e62153-c2f5-4309-9cf7-48e0813cb541"],"hasLease_ssim":["e997931e-c3bb-40a2-9d02-152b84be1785"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jane I Smith"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bonnie Bardot"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["United Church of Christ.
