Leviticus","Sermons"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study is to explore how Reformed pastors can apply hermeneutical principles to preach through challenging texts with gospel application, and will use a ritual text from Leviticus as its model. This study utilized a qualitative design blended with the execution of a literary dissertation to gather extensive literature review from resources related to hermeneutics; to Ancient Near Eastern ritual and ritual practice in general; and to homiletical principles for Christocentric preaching. The literature review focused on gaining data with three research questions: What are best practices in navigating hermeneutical challenges in interpreting Leviticus? What are best practices in determining meaning in the ritual texts of Leviticus? What methods can be helpful to seeing the work of Christ in the Old Testament and specifically in Leviticus? \r\n\r\nThe literature review focused on three key areas to understand in preparing for and preaching a text of scripture: the hermeneutical principles wisely applied to the study and preaching of any biblical text; the methods and mindset most helpful to the examination of a ritual text (for this study); and the theology and strategies conducive to Christocentric preaching from any text in scripture. Three areas of literature review were approved in order to make this a literary dissertation rather than a standard qualitative dissertation (one area). Jude","Jesus Christ"],"abstract_tesim":["This project argues that James and Jude provide a unique, early, and Jewish-Christian perspective on the relationship between Christology and ethics. This thesis contends that James and Jude built their ethical appeals on an assumed, apostolic theology generated by the resurrection, which included a high Christology and an expectant eschatology. As the watershed, foundational event in the early church, the resurrection prompted massive and widespread shifts in the apostles’ Christological comprehension, ethical construction, and exegetical methods. Rather than leaving James and Jude in the unintelligible backwaters of the NT, this thesis shows that these brothers of Jesus were not only aligned with the apostolic theology behind all of the NT documents but were also influential in its formation and application. The project sought to discover whether a sermon series that unpacks and contextualizes the Christology found in these hymns will enhance college students' understanding of who Christ is, and why we serve him wholeheartedly. The end product of this project is a manual that can be used by seminary students, by pastors wishing to enhance their preaching proficiency, and by teachers of homiletics who want to teach the skills needed to prepare relevant miracle stories sermons, especially in Chinese-Indonesian context. The second section of this thesis-project addresses the theological framework of miracle stories of the gospels. The third section addresses the literature reviews. The fourth section of the thesis-project is the manual itself, which addresses the practical concerns of how to prepare and deliver miracle stories of the gospels sermons. The manual found in section four is based on the principles of expository preaching developed by Haddon W. Robinson in his book Biblical preaching. The goals were measured in a survey including eighteen statements ranked on a seven-point Likert Scale and six open-ended statements giving respondents their own voice. The results show a fairly high regard for orthodoxy with some anomalies indicating postmodern cultural influences.
