Beginning in January of 1976 and continuing through December of 1978, this experimental ministry took place with the inactive members of the congregation of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Annville, Pennsylvania. During this three-year period the pastoral ministry in the parish was carried out in the normal manner. This project became an integral part of the parish work and was seldom mentioned, in order to avoid affecting the results. The members of the parish were aware that I was involved in a doctoral project, but very few had any knowledge of the area being studied. Further, the project did not alter the remainder of the parish program in any significant manner, with the exception of the fact that a number of the inactive members responded in some measurable way. The project is, therefore, a plan which can be readily adapted and utilized by any parish in which inactive members are a concern.
