Corporate leadership is discussed from Biblical, historical, and theological perspectives.  A broad theory is developed suggesting several consequences of team leadership that ultimately affect church growth.  Questionnaire responses assessing team relationship and church growth are correlated by computer analysis. Examination of some growing churches reveals pastor and leaders sharing significant time together. The laity meet weekly: in pairs for mutual supervision and in large groups for lay-led Bible study and creative worship.  This project develops teamwork with a group of great diversity. Although each church is unique in size and composition, as well as in the circumstances surrounding the pastor's departure, the common element of grief is present.  Personal interviews with church leaders elicited various expressions of sadness in the loss of their pastor.  With learnings related to grief resulting from death and separation, application is then made to the loss of a significant other, a pastor. Biblical and theological references are included. It describes the selection of training groups from four different Protestant churches of various sizes, with a total of forty-one participants, uses five instruments to gather evaluative data on the effects of the training on the participants, presents and evaluates the results, and draws conclusions.  The evaluative data includes opinion and feelings reported by the participants and their pastors, together with a pre and post questionnaire on attitudes and a report of the participants' involvement in such ministry in the year after training. The pre and post questionnaire showed several changes in the participants' understandings of how people respond to terminal illness, death, and grief, and in participants' attitudes about their own deaths. Measuring the right criterion, parishioners' satisfaction, can influence the quality of ministry pastors provide. This qualitative case study describes how chaplains and congregations understand ministry and uses the business model conjointly with the biblical theology to measure parishioners' satisfaction. As a pro-active observer, the researcher coordinated two annual conferences and seventeen discussion groups to identify the elements of ministry in a military chapel setting which best defines and encourages quality ministry in three army chapels. Measuring parishioners' satisfaction provided a more meaningful assessment of the community's spiritual fitness. The author researched ways in which ministers experience the tension between primary tasks of ordained ministry, of which relationships with the poor are a part, and the more tangible and measurable secondary and tertiary marks of ministry. The method of study for this project was largely ethnographic, consisting of field interviews with fifteen elders. The author addresses that the final goal of the spirituality for growing church will be to give out in love what has been received in love to those who share this world with us. M. E. Zion Church.  Proactive methodology in research tested the hypothesis that churches having an Episcopal form of government must find creative ways to empower their congregation to deal with unwanted change.
