The method was quasi-experimental, utilizing pretesting and posttesting of a test group and a control group.  The former met for nine months during 1987.  It addressed learning how to plan and how people minister and lead in relation to their personality type and spiritual gifts. The project affirmed the value of studying personality type and spiritual gifts. Drawing upon this process, and experience in other congregationally-governed churches, policy statements were formulated, acted upon and compiled into a 'Church Policy Manual'.  This manual is used as ready reference for the church leadership. The training program helped the participants promote their spiritual growth, strengthen their commitment and improve their effectiveness in their services.  It benefited the church in equipping present church leaders and developing new church leaders. Clergy respondents prefer a leadership style of people orientation.  In transitional communities, church growth is correlated with population changes and church programming. The first four chapters detail relevant aspects of Egypt's history, culture and religions.  Later chapters discuss the obstacles to reaching Egyptians, suggests a bridge for reaching them, and considers the nature of the Egyptian church and its role in leadership training.  The final two chapters deal with resources for evangelization in Egypt and the role of Egypt in fulfilling the Great Commission worldwide. The context of the study is a Free Methodist Church in western Pennsylvania.  The project is built around the case study method which currently is used at Asbury Theological Seminary to evaluate professional action and encourage critical thinking.  The important factors which contribute to trust building are familiarity, compatibility, self-disclosure and leadership styles.
