Participants took part in two three-hour learning sessions focused on congregational governance, strategic planning, and conflict prevention and resolution.  They also received a resource manual and experienced structured devotional exercises.  Participants reported an enhanced sense of preparedness for service following the learning experience. The objectives of this ministry project were approached by examination of seven pastors and their ministry in the areas of vision, pastoral effectiveness, leadership, and communication.  The project director recruited, trained and coached the pastors and their boards, and evaluated the project. The study utilized qualitative research methodology that resulted in three observations: (1) Hope is a predictive framework (relative to the concept of God's basileia) that shapes leadership values and motives. (2) Hope engenders inquiries that expose and subvert dysfunctional tendencies that suppress or reject emerging leaders. This thesis was tested in a workshop with the elders of Sparta Baptist Church. Three inventories evaluated their level of faith, love and hope, respectively. These were accompanied by teaching about the triad's implications for holistic formation of church members and ministry focus. The fruit of this research aided in the development of an equipping model to train selected West Florida Christian Educators in leadership coaching. The equipping model was piloted with a select group of Ministers of Education in West Florida. It will begin by learning from biblical teaching and leadership archetypes as well as best practices among renewal movements.  A program for development of staff and supervisors is implemented: (1) national student leadership conference, (2) internship, (3) staff training in fundamentals, (4) regional staff training, (5) NVEST, (6) emerging leaders, and (7) MD training.
