It is a study of ten Brethren churches in Singapore. Using the case study method, the study considers the process undertaken by the churches in identifying potential leaders, encouraging and preparing them for leadership, and appointing them to assume full leadership responsibilities in the local churches as elders, thus ensuring leadership continuity. The analysis of the research was synthesized into twelve significant observations. The study drew ten principles that local churches can adopt for success in leadership succession."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132288382140416,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:01:00.715Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:50:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"55cbc5d0-e5f7-4452-b722-42128e56320f","accessControl_ssim":["4fab22d7-733e-4e94-a1f7-ab203a2231f2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Mission: from violence to liberation and accompaniment: the formation of Latino/a leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:50:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:38:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a7d34bc2-ab63-4775-884f-60ffea5f9dad"],"hasLease_ssim":["2150f391-56cc-4112-9ba3-635bb863530a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["José David Rodríguez"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory Jose Villalon"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Strategy","Catholic Church","Hispanic American Catholics","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This professionla paper presents an in-depth study of the mission models placing special emphasis on those used by priests in the Roman Catholic Church, during the conquest of Mexico and Latin America during the 15th century. A pastor's identity informs how a preacher witnesses to the Word of God. Using The Witness of Preaching by Thomas G. Long, I discuss the various images he used to illustrate the roles of preachers: the herald, the paster, the storyteller/poet, and finally, the witness. I have drawn upon my own experiences as a child raised in the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod and how I moved from a theology based in fear to a theology based in grace. As a secondary discourse I draw on Edwin H. Friedman's A Failure of Nerve: Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix. Friedman uses the term 'non-anxious' and 'well-differentiated' to define these aspects of leadership; throughout this thesis I discuss what it means to become a leader and bear witness to God's Word as a preacher."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133844493041665,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:25:44.739Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:49:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:05:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d7fa01e9-0de5-491e-979c-40bfc358e5bb","accessControl_ssim":["29cc2112-898f-4e8b-b6cc-9c9408ced3e4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Leading change on the field: a case study of change processes in the ministry strategy and organizational culture of a mission field staff"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:49:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:18:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["dfa0c25c-9db1-449f-a35c-4ea1fb2d75c6"],"hasLease_ssim":["ee8dcffe-961c-46e7-aed0-60ae5d268984"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Timothy D Crouch"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Personnel management","Strategy","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The case study was conducted to help answer the question of how mission field leaders can effectively lead their teams through significant change in ministry strategy and organizational culture, given the special challenges of this organizational setting.
